An expedition to become the youngest British person to climb Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen.

The Everest Project

Simon Ferrier-May is aiming to become the youngest British person to climb Mount Everest without bottled oxygen.

According to the Himalayan Database, only 5 British people have successfully climbed Everest without oxygen.

Simon has self-funded the full cost of the expedition so all money donated will go to Sustainable Himalayan Foundation, none of it will go to paying expedition expenses. Sustainable Himalayan Foundation are a Nepalese anti-trafficking charity, who provide mental health support for women in Nepal.

Simon Ferrier-May

Having climbed above 8000 metres before without oxygen, I am fully aware of the risks involved and the difficultly of the feat. This will be huge(!) and will take absolutely everything I've got for it to be a successful and safe expedition.

Among other peaks, I am the youngest British person to successfully climb Himlung Himal (7126m, Nepal), and the youngest British person to successfully climb Manaslu without bottled oxygen (8163m, Nepal, the 8th highest mountain in the world). In total I have spent 5 months of my life climbing in the Himalaya, as well as peaks in the European Alps. You can see more about my climbs here. The Everest Project will be the first time I have done a climb for charity.
